Month of festivities from today

With peace in the air and both Eid-ul-fitr and Christmas around the corner, the City of Colombo is all set to celebrate a month of festivities beginning today. This follows instructions by Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremasinghe.

Minister John Amaratunge will symbolically inaugurate the month of festivities by lighting the city at four important places starting at 7p.m. today. The locations are roundabouts at Lipton Circus, Galadari at Galle Face, Liberty Plaza and the Kotahena roundabout leading upto St.Lucia's Cathedral.

This will follow the lighting up of all commercial establishments and State department buildings. (AN)
