Inter-religious X'mas at All Saints

An inter-religious Christmas program has been drawn up by the Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Tower Hall Foundation which will be held at the Grotto of All Saints Church Grounds, Borella on Sunday, December 22 from 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm. The program is organised to promote inter-religious dialogue among the Catholics, Christians, Buddhists and the Hindu and to help strengthen understanding between the different ethnic communities.

The decision to hold the program was taken by Cultural Affairs Director Lakshman Perera at a meeting with Rev.Fr. Benedict Joseph, Parish Priest of the All Saints Church and with the Church community.

The event will include dance performances by the State dancing troupe with support from the State musical group; two events by Tower Hall Foundation and a 20 minutes-long stage play by artistes from Negombo. Borella All Saints Church choirists will sing the carols. Department of Cultural Affairs with the help of the Church will bring out a special Christmas magazine as part of the event.

Colombo Archbishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, Speaker of the House Joseph Michael Perera, Human Resource Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Karunasena Kodituwakku and the Christian Affairs and Internal Affairs Minister John Emmanuel Amaratunga will grace the occasion.
