Floods-affected libraries to get help

National Library and Documentation Services Board has taken steps to assist 26 libraries affected by the recent floods in Galle, Matara and Ratnapura. The decision has been taken to assist the libraries after a study and the sources added that 25 school libraries, two pirivena libraries in the three districts will also receive assistance, which will include books and technology.

Human Resource Development, Education and Cultural Minister Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku will attend a function at the auditorium of the National Library and Documentation Services Board on September 02 to hand-over the assistance package to the respective libraries.

At this function 20 libraries will receive books to the value of Rs. 50,000 and others books worth Rs. 25,000, respectively, library sources said.
