Dialog GSM in partnership with Cargills Food City

Cargills food City the country's leading retail supermarket chain with 51 outlets at present plans to open 25 outlets within the country during this year said Executive Director Cargills Ceylon Ltd, Sidath Kodikara. This was revealed at a press conference to announce the unique retail partnership Cargills had entered into with Dialog GSM, Sri Lanka's largest and fastest growing mobile service provider.

Under the partnership agreement 34 Cargills food City outlets would sell Dialog GSM's KIT (pre-paid) connections.

CEO, Dialog GSM Dr.Hans Wijesuriya, said now Cargills Food City would retail the KIT SIM cards as well as recharge cards for KIT users. Customers could purchase KIT cards at Cargills outlets from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. He said mobile phones has become as a essential device therefore we wanted to make it available mass market and this partnership would help us reach the consumers across the island due to the supermarket chain being scattered around the country.

Sidath Kodikara Executive Director, Cargills Ceylon Ltd said that they were proud to enter in to a partnership with Dialog GSM. He said "we see very valuable synergies between Food City and the KIT brand, and are confident that our network and the Food City chain will grow rapidly in tandem with each other to reach consumers across the island". He said that 2.8 million customers patronise the outlets every month.

Dialog GSM will have islandwide coverage in the near future.

It currently operates a fully fledged 2.5 GSM network with EDGE capability supporting the very latest in multimedia and mobile internet services. Dialog GSM is also the first mobile operator in South Asia to launch a non commercial 3G pilot service. Its national coverage span across all nine provinces with over 380 base stations while international roaming is provided in 177 countries.
