PM visits Jobsnet centre

Ranil Wickramasinghe visited JobsNet Centre in Ratnapoura last week on a fact finding mission - to see how the JobsNet project had progressed so far and witness the day-to-day operations.

In a 45 minute long stay at the JobsNet centre, the Prime Minister examined how the project operated including the On-line Interface at www.jobsnet.lk. He also met job-seekers, both graduates and non-graduates as well as a number of employers and private training institution representatives who were conducting regular programs under JobsNet premises.

JobsNet is a Public-Private Sector Partnership (PPP) initiated under the Ministry of Employment and Labour and managed by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. It is the implementation of initiative 7 - Creation of an Employment Sourcing and Delivery System - under the national employment policy of Sri Lanka. It is a referral system benefiting job-seekers, local and foreign employers and self-employment seekers by providing referrals for jobs and training, information, advice and career guidance, with a web interface at www.jobsnet.lk
