Sampath Bank helps young inventor Asanka Jayamal Rajakaruna, a 26-year-old youth from Mt. Lavinia is in the process of inventing a 3 Dimensional TV system which when completed would be the most advanced 3D visualisation method in the world. He calls his invention "MOMPRO-vista," a derivation from 'Montaged Omny Profiled' meaning many pictures of films put together. From grade 6 onwards, Asanka was keen on developing an advanced 3D television and today his invention has been commended by several leading engineers in the field including Sir Arthur C. Clarke. Asanka has obtained the patent rights for his proposed invention and is now busy preparing prototypes for review by reputed overseas companies. Sampath Bank is providing financial assistance to Asanka to enable him to carry out the prototype development work smoothly. Additional Director General (Engineering), Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Upali Arambawela, is providing supervisory assistance to Asanka. Managing Director/CEO of Sampath Bank Anil Amarasuriya, said that they are happy to assist Asanka to enable him realise his goals and be the proud owner of an invention that would give a new dimension to the use of images. "As a technology driven Sri Lankan Bank, we are very keen to support local young talent in their endeavours to achieve far reaching technological goals", he said. Asanka is an old boy of Lalith Athulathmudali College, Mt Lavinia and Nalanda College, Colombo. |
