Sanjay Samarasinghe missed a difficult kick at goal. But the Thomians joy was short lived as the Kingswoodians launched a fierce attack on their defence and their No. 8 Navin Wijetunga ran a good 40-metres and hooker Charaka Perera scored off a ruck far right. Skipper Eranda Weerakoddy failed to add the extra points and the scores stood level at 5-all. In the 28th minute the Kingswoodians took over the lead for the first time in the match when centre Gayan Weeraratne with a blistering 45-metre scored near the posts. In the 15th minute Kingswood's winger Luchira Ratnage followed a kick ahead covered some distance and sent full back Eranda Weerakoddy to score by the right corner flag which went unconverted. Three minutes later centre Gayan Weeraratne scored his second try when he off a second phase move scored for left. Weerakoddy's kick at goal just missed going over. In the 22nd minute Kingswoodian score again through Gayan Weeraratne who collected the loose ball and ran a good 45-metres to touch down by the left post. Weerakoddy's kick at goal struck the uprights and rebounded. Soon afterwards kingswood's flanker Dinesh Gamage was sent on 'Sin Bin' for dangerous play. Once again kingswood having only 14 players on the field, the Thomians struck through scrum half Ruwan Jyatissa who scored off a scrum deep inside their opponent's territory.
