University of Kelaniya link with foreign partner

Marking another milestone in its development and expansion effort, the University of kelaniya is getting ready to establish an academic link program with the Sojo University in Kumamoto, Japan. The Sojo University, has achieved excellence in the fields of Fine Arts and Design, Engineering, Applied Sciences, and Architecture.

It is also a centre of excellence for teaching Japanese language to foreign students. The main objective of the collaboration is to promote academic exchange in fields of education and scientific research of mutual interest through the exchange of faculty members and researchers, cooperation of research, exchange of students, exchange of academic reports, information and publications, and exchange through lectures, workshops and symposia, etc.

Initially, the Departments of Fine Arts of the two universities will commence exchange of teachers and students, and will gradually expand to include other disciplines.

The ceremonial signing of the agreement was held at the University of Kelaniya on October 28th, and a five-member delegation from the Sojo University, including the President of the University Mineo Nakayama and some senior professors were present.
