Over 2,000 teachers for estate schools
The government has taken steps to appoint over two-thousand teachers
to estate schools, said Central Provincial Education Minister Sandanam
Arulsamy.
He was addressing students and teachers at Maha Uva and Gonapitiya
Tamil Vidyalayas in the Maturata electorate. Arulsamy said it is
important for teachers and students in the plantation sector to make
good use of it and become educated citizens in the country.
LSSP Gen. Secretary honoured
General Secretary of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) Wimalasiri
Premnath de Mel has been honoured by the Samasevaya with the honorary
title of "Sama Shuri" for his commitment to peace-building in Sri Lanka.
He was a member of Parliament for Moratuwa, a member of the Western
Provincial Council and an active member of the All Ceylon Buddhist
Congress.
