44th anniversary of Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry
The Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry will celebrate its 44th
anniversary with an "Industrial Excellence Award" ceremony on Thursday,
November 29 at "Waters Edge".
The High Commissioner for India Alok Prasad will be the Chief Guest
on the occasion.
The past 44 years have seen the Small Chamber grow from a Small
Industries Association to its present status. The names of its members
who have passed into the halls of fame are many and also are the
Industries they began, as truly small, which have now reached the zenith
of corporate success. It's no longer an association but a Chamber with
the power and capacity, standing shoulder to shoulder with the nation's
leaders of industry.
The Ministry of Industrial Development has prepared a Cabinet paper
to be presented to Parliament to add to their name "Medium". Nirupama
Rajapakse MP will present this in Parliament shortly. Thereafter the
Chamber will be known as the "Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium
Industry".
The "Industrial Excellence Award" is a competition for its 360
members. The selection of the winners is done with the co-operation of
the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, where the Chamber President Aloy
Jayawardene is a member on the Board. The 30 winners will receive their
awards from the Chief Guest. These celebrations will be attended by over
150 members with their spouses. |
