Mobitel Google link for M3 Apps

Mobitel, the National Mobile Service provider entered into a partnership with Google introducing M3 Apps, an exclusive suit of services powered by Google Apps.

With the M3 Apps all mobitel customers will be entitled to register for a host of new services that will include a suite of communication and collaborative tools, offering among many other existing features, an email address accessible via any network. The new M3 Apps is a suit of services delivered on the strength of Mobitel’s latest 3.5G HSPA network and powered by Google. The suit is developed and leveraged on Google’s versatile application suit google Apps similar to Google’s Google calender, Google talk and Google docs. M3 Apps users can manage their service via web browser, This enables users access to email, calender, docs and other applications from anywhere in the world and through any type of device that offers internet access. For instance M3mail, a part of M3 Apps offers novel features to make email more useful.

It also offers protection and virus filtering. M3mail provides powerful message searching and has inbuilt instant messaging. It is accessible from any web browser and most of the mobile phones. All email accounts have up to 7.3 GB storage capacity. With the launch of M3 Apps Mobitel is fast emerging as the leader in 3.5G mobile service provider in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka was the first South Asian country as well as one in the first ten countries in the world which introduced 3.5G HSPA network. With over 2000 base stations around the country Mobitel is fast expanding its 3.5G coverage,

This partnership between Mobitel and Google is a landmark development in the ICT development space offering the prospect of leading Sri Lanka towards and info-com and knowledge rich society, said the chairman of the Sri Lanka Telecom, Leisha De Silva Chandrasena.

Head of business development (Asia pacific) of Google Jason Senn said that Google’s goal has always been to provide information quickly and universally. This partnership will provide easy and accessible tools to Sri Lankans, he said.
