Karunanidhi praises Govt. for IDP resettlement
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Muttuvelu Karunanidhi has praised the
Government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa for commencing the
resettlement of IDP’s from the relief villages in Vavuniya.
The Chief Minister, in a statement issued from Chennai, mentioned
that two weeks ago, the combined delegation of the Tamil Nadu State
Assembly and India’s Central Government had been in Sri Lanka and
visited the IDP villages in Vavuniya, looking into the conditions of the

discussed the IDP issue with him. They had been assured by the Lankan
leader that the IDPs would be settled as soon as possible. They are now
happy to see that the resettlement process has started with thousands of
people getting back to their original places, Karunanidhi stated. The
Chief Minister has also added that the war in Sri Lanka was now over.
“The war in the island for the past several years had led to continued
bloodshed. With the ending of the war, let us wish that all Sri Lankans
will live happily in peace,” Karunanidhi stated.
