Mihin Lanka for the first time would be operating flights to Jakarta,
Indonesia from this November. Their frequency would be three flights per
week.
Sri Lanka's first low cost airline, Mihin, which is also planning to
enter the Sri Lankan domestic airline market by flying between the
Colombo international airport and Jaffna, would be acquiring a new
aircraft from France. The aircraft is a very modern and is equipped with
'ETOP' facility allowing it to fly above the sea using less fuel.
"Unlike the other aircraft in Sri Lanka this 210 seater airbus, A321 is
very new and was manufactured in 2007," CEO, Mihin Lanka Kapila
Chandrasena said. He said that they would also be flying to the Maldives
and Bangladesh using the aircraft. "Mihin is hoping to operate the Dacca
and Ahamadabad frequencies thrice a week while we plan to fly to the
Maldives daily," he said. In a bid to expand their services Mihin Lanka
opened their first regional branch in Kurunegala yesterday.
"We will be opening our next branch in Jaffna next month," CEO said.
The company which also flies to Dubai and Kuwait catering to the demands
of the Sri Lankan expatriate workers is now offering a special Payment
Plans for Government servants and Pensioners which is now gaining in
popularity. Mihin Lanka has also recommenced their Buddhagaya flights
which were stopped for the off season.
The flight which is running to capacity operates every Sunday. For the
first time monks who were on the flight last Sunday chanted Seth Pirith
when they were 39,000 feet above the ground and this is the first time
Pirith was chanted on air.
Mihin Lanka also flies to Varanasi and Tiruchirapalli. |
