Amendments to Constitution in House soon
Amendments to the Constitution will be presented
in Parliament early next month, according to Water Supply and
Drainage Minister and Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena. He
said that the proposed amendments would remove the limitations on
the terms of the executive presidency.

Navy probes major human smuggling racket
Sri Lanka Navy intelligence operatives along
with the police are conducting further investigations to bust a
major human smuggling racket after they found that the five men
arrested in the Marawila area in mid-August were involved in a part
of a major racket which had been going on for many years.

Postal system to be revamped
The entire postal system in the country will get
a facelift under a networking system to be introduced by the Posts
and Telecommunication Ministry to modernise post offices.
Six-hundred-and-forty-seven main post offices and 3,500 sub post
offices will be linked through the networking system to provide a
more efficient service to customers under the program,
