With cricket being Sri Lanka’s national past time, Super Six revolves around a group of youth from Moratuwa participating in the Super Sixes, a six-a-side tournament,” he said at the launch of the movie. The movie combines the influences of romance, comedy, action and fantasy and is the first movie to be launched in the country after the end of the battle against the LTTE.

The movie incorporates all emotions and senses known to the human mind and spirit.” Palliyaguruge said that “there are unpredictable perils of fate and destiny that are intertwined in each of these young people’s lives while they strive to achieve their dreams on the singular platform of the cricket pitch. But as the film unspools the rivalry between the teams spill over into their off-the pitch lives although the ultimate lessons are the values they learn from one another in this ‘Super Sixes’ tournament.”

As head of Aristo Films which is a 100 percent Sri Lankan film production company formed in 2005, Palliyaguruge also combines the genius of R Sadesh Kumar into the film, revolutionising the movie industry with their debut into commercial films. He said that they will get technical resources from India as well.

He said that the lyrics are written by Nilar N. Cassim, Nandana Wickramage and Wasantha Bandara Dukgannarala while the music is by Mahesh Denipitiya and Iraj Weeraratne. The melodious voices of Rookantha Gunathilake, Champa Kalhari, Shihan Mihiranga, Surendra Perera and Iraj Weeraratne takes the filmgoer through a new experience.

Palliyaguruge said that the movie is a combination of extraordinary elements brought together to give a great movie experience. “Super Six is the first of its kind movie in Sri Lanka, not only from a budgetary angle, but also from the extent of the cast, the catalogue of multi-talented actors of who some are celebrities making their debut in the film world, technical features of high quality camera and film work, music, locations and even infusion of added features such as stuntmen and a highly celebrated Indian choreographer.”

“For me, just like for the Super Six team, this is a dream come true”, said the director.

He holds a degree in cinema from the Asian Academy of Film and TV India and Diplomas in Fine Arts and Mass Media as well as Film Making from the New York Film Academy.

The producer of the film, Sadesh Kumar said that the passion and love for cinema was the reason for him to create something extraordinary through the film Super Six.
