Galewela MMV - Central Province girls softball champs

CRICKET: Galewela MMV in Dambulla Electorate emerged champions at the Central Province Schools Softball Cricket Tournament of Education Department, Kandy on July 1 at Weegulawatte Grounds, Gampola.

The runners-up were: Wattegama Balika Vidyalaya and the major upset in the tournament was the defeat of last year’s champions Mahamaya Balika, Kandy in the semi-finals by Wattegama Balika. Then last year’s runners-up Pallebowala Vidyalaya, Hanguranketha were beaten by the champion Galewela MMV in the quarter-finals.

Altogether there were 22 teams that participated in the tournament.
