Sri Lanka Women beat Singapore 10-5 to secure first win

Sri Lanka women’s winger Dulani Palikondage on her way to scoring one of her two tries against Singapore in a group match played at the Racecourse international stadium yesterday.

After losing their first two matches to Hong Kong 17-12 and to China 27-0 Sri Lanka women’s rugby team winger Dulani Pallikondage’s two crucial tries saw them winning their final group stage match against Singapore by 15 points to 5 at the Asian Rugby Seven’s series 3rd and final leg at the Racecourse international stadium yesterday.

The third try for the Sri Lankans was scored by vastly experience speedy centre Anusha Attanayake.

In the other matches Japan beat South Korea 36-0 , Thailand beat India 31- 0, China beat Singapore 38-7, Japan beat India 43-0, Thailand beat South Korea 21-0, Hong Kong beat Singapore 26-0, South Korea beat India 38-0, Thailand beat Japan 24-19 and Hong Kong beat China 19-14 .

Today’s semi-finals line up for the Plate championship will be Sri Lanka-India, Singapore-South Korea while the Cup championship semis will be Hong Kong-Japan and China-Thailand. (WAI)
