Lawyers’ Collective to pressure Government

The Lawyers’ Collective has decided to pressure the Yahapalana government to keep to its trajectory and to perform as promised during the election campaign, without deviating from its stance of uplifting and promoting yahapalanaya.

The Lawyers Collective is an association comprising members of the Sri Lanka Bar Association (BASL), the largest professional body of lawyers.

Highly placed sources within the Collective told the Sunday Observer more discussions will held to decide on the future course of action. “We have had been having discussions and wants to push the government to perform as promised and to make sure that investigations and judicial matters will not be interfered with,” a prominent member of the Lawyer’s Collective said.

In their view, the Lawyer’s Collective which contributed to the setting up of the good governance government, should continue to do so as the need for it has been strongly felt in the face of recent incidents in the political arena.
