A new 40 foot Buddha statue in a standing posture built at a cost of Rs. 4.5 million at the Sri Isipathanarama Viharaya, M.Vincent Perera Mawatha, Colombo 14 will be unveiled by President Maithripala Sirisena at a ceremony to day morning.
It will be held under the patronage of Viharadhipathi Ven. Dr. Madampagame Asaji Tissa Nayaka Thera. Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya are among the invitees.
The annual Katina Pinkama of the viharaya will commence at the viharaya with an all night pirith ceremony the same night and conclude with the Katina Chevara Pooja and Sangika Dana on October 7.
