Premier League Inter-Club Cricket : Dickwella shows early form with splendid 183

NCC’s and Sri Lanka left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella hit a magnificent 183 off 155 balls inclusive of 23 fours and a six on the opening day of their Premier League Inter-Club cricket tournament match against Bloomfield at Maitland Place yesterday.

Thanks to Dickwella, NCC amassed 443-9 declared. Bloomfield were nine without loss at the close.

In the other Premier league matches which are being played on the second day another Sri Lanka cricketer Asela Gunaratne of Army SC scored 158 runs off 221 balls with 19 fours and a six against BRC who were dismissed for 219 to give the soldiers a handy first innings lead at Panagoda.

Slow left-arm orthodox bowler Gayan Sirisoma took a match bag of 11 wickets as Panadura SC completed a two-day win over Police SC at Panadura. Police were shot out for 97 and 151 to lose by an innings. Of the other bowlers among the wickets was Malinda Pushpakumara of Chilaw Marians who took six wickets against Baduraliya SC and Wikum Sanjaya of BRC who also had a similar haul against Army SC.
