The selections on the CD have been well chosen by Nalin Fernando who has a wide knowledge of what music lovers need to dance to and keep their spirits high. Selections from Abba’s repertoire, from Tom Jones repertoire, Boney M, Elvis Presley and exciting Latin favourites. Most of all it’s a good version of the favourite Una Paloma Blanca – not heard at all these days. What’s more, apart from the English songs Nalin has included attractive Sinhala songs and baila, such as, Punsanda Paya, Purthugisi Karaya, Surangani, Thanakola Peththa and much more in medley form.
As a point of interest Nalin & The Star Combination will be the band in action on New Year’s Eve at the newly opened Anantaya Hotel, Chilaw.
The band has a lineup of experienced musicians. Guitarist Nalin along with his wife Shermila handle the vocals with his daughters Sahani and Nashali joined by Malith and Jagath. The other musicians are Shamal de Silva – keyboards, Udara – keyboards, Dharshana – bass and Ravi Fernando – keyboards.
