Enjoining order against SLT trade union protests

The Colombo District Court and the Colombo Magistrate Court issued Orders against trade union protests conducted by - some trade unions of Sri Lanka Telecom and SLT Human Capital Solutions recently.

The order was issued under Case No. B 4132/16 in Colombo Magistrate Court preventing the employees of Sri Lanka Telecom and Human Capital Solutions, engaged in strike action, from conducting protests in manners obstructing pedestrians and vehicular traffic on Public roads.

Moreover, Under Case No. 3/2017/DSP in the Colombo District Court, an Enjoining Order was issued to all Trade Unions engaged in strike action, preventing them from causing damage to all Sri Lanka Telecom properties, and Employees.

The order further prevents the trade unions who are engaged in trade union action from threatening and derision of any employee of Sri Lanka Telecom, obstructing them while reporting to work, attempting to forcefully lead them out of the organization during working hours, and any other obstruction to the operations of SLT. This order will be in effect until 19th January 2017.
