Vidura college wins gold at the National Level School ICT Championships

Vidura College, Colombo won the gold medal becoming the first in the National Level School ICT Championships, organized by the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), in association with the Ministry of Education, University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) and the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL). The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Education with the participation of the Education Minister, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam .

The objective of the competition is to uplift the IT skills of schoolchildren to take them to the international level. YCS is conducted in parallel to the Asia-Pacific Information Communication Technology Awards competition held annually.

Vidura College entered the YCS competition for the first time this year. The Team Infinitium of Vidura college comprising Pulasthi Udugamasooriya - Leader, Himath Ipalawattage, Kawan Rupasinghe and Mandil Amarasuriya participated in the competition with their Project Dextra, the autonomous robot car.

Team Infinitium became the Gold prize winner under non-government (International Schools) - Junior Category for the project Dextra.
