Havies edge out Airmen 37-29 in a thriller

22 January, 2017

Red hot rugby was dished out by both the teams where Havelock’s SC outfit emerged victorious edging out an unlucky Air Force by 37 points (4 tries, 4 conversions, 3 penalties) to 29 (4 tries, 3 conversions, 1 penalty) in their Dialog ‘A’ division inter-club league rugby second round match played under lights at Havelock Park yesterday, The scores were deadlocked at 17-all at the breather.

It was an awesome performance orchestrated by both Havelock’s and Air Force with a fabulous display of fast open rugby throughout the entire game where they totally dominated the set pieces through their heavy forwards who combined effectively with their entire three quarter line.

For the winning Havies team the tries were scored by flanker Sudarshana Muthutanthri (two), hooker Prasath Madushanka (one) and second row forward Jason Meldor (one) while the four conversions and the three penalties were fired across by full back Dulaj Perera.

Number eight Dinesh Weeraratne (one), former Trinity College prop forward Pandula Bandara (one), former St. Anthony’s College Kandy full back Ramdan Rumesh (one) and winger Kaushal Manupriya (one) scored the tries for the losing Airmen while fly half cum captain Gayantha Iddamalgoda put over three conversions and one penalty.
