The Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Kenichi Suganuma will be the guest speaker in the ‘Meet the Ambassador’ program on ‘Bilateral Trade Between Sri Lanka and Japan’ on February 21 from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the National Chamber of Commerce auditorium.
He will be joined by JETRO Resident Representative Kazuhiko Obama and JICA Chief Representative, Kyoshi Amada who will speak on the activities of their organizations.
Current business trends, trade potential, opportunities for export, import, investment and services for Sri Lankans in Japan will be discussed. The participants will get an opportunity to interact with the Ambassador and officials and obtain information on the relevant areas.
Potential items for trade are gem and jewellery, tea, apparel, cosmetics, rubber gloves, activated rubber, vegetable fats processed food, healthy foods.
Targeted sectors Manufacturing of Electronic & Electrical equipment. Manufacturing of Automobile spare parts/ rubber based products, Assembly plants for LED and Energy savings lamps. Sri Lanka’s imports from Japan include motor vehicles, machinery, electronic goods, and audio/camera equipment, self-propelled bulldozers, iron or steel parts, and accessories of motor vehicles.
