Second win for Virtusa Polaris

Virtusa Polaris secured their second successive win in the ongoing Mercantile ‘E’ division cricket tournament when they beat Hilton Colombo by nine wickets at Thurstan grounds on Sunday. The 30-over match was reduced to 26 overs due to the Thurstan grounds being handed to the umpires late.

Hilton put into bat first were dismissed for 126 their batting collapsing to the left-arm medium pace of Supun Bulathsinghala who ended up with figures of 5 for 12. Top scorer for the hotel was Sudaraka Silva who made 39.

Virtusa made short work of their target of 127 getting their inside 20 overs.

They were given a superb start by Sadeem Thawfeeq (39) and Nipuna Mudalige who put on 98 for the first wicket. Mudalige went onto score an unbeaten 64 off 52 balls with nine fours and two sixes to guide Virtusa home comfortably.
