Royal College, Colombo recently won the Colombo B regional round at the Business Plan Competition organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), beating several other leading schools in the district. St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, was adjudged first runner-up and Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya became the second runner-up at the second regional round held recently which brought together a total of six schools from Colombo.

The other schools included; D. S. Senanayake College, St. Benedict’s College and Ladies’ College.

The CA Sri Lanka Business Plan competition comprises seven regional rounds; Colombo - A, Colombo - B, Gampaha, Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle/Matara and Jaffna and the regional rounds will conclude in early March. The grand finale will be held in Colombo on March 28.

The competition brings together a total of 60 teams from across the island with each school team comprising of five students who are sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2017 August - Commerce Stream (English), and or students who are sitting for the GCE Advanced Level Examination in 2018 August - Commerce Stream (English).

The winning team from the grand finale will fly to Australia to take part in the Case Competition organized by the QUT Business School of the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia in May this year.

The partnership between CA Sri Lanka and the QUT Business School was enabled by the Sri Lanka and Australia Chamber of Commerce (SLACC) in an effort to bring Sri Lankan and Australian professional bodies together.
