Karunaratne, Samarawickrama share triple century stand

Dimuth Karunaratne and Sadeera Samarawickrama shared a massive unfinished triple century partnership as Sri Lanka A replying to England Lions’ first innings of 353 finished the second day of the four-day unofficial test on 333 for three wickets at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium yesterday.

England Lions snapped up the first three wickets for 30 runs but were thwarted from making any further inroads by the fourth wicket pair of Karunaratne and Samarawickrama who has so far put on 303 runs.

Karunaratne, the Sri Lanka Test opener warmed up for the Bangladesh series with an unbeaten 140 off 216 balls (15 fours) and Samarawickrama was unbeaten on a career best 177 scored off 219 balls with 25 fours.

Earlier left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara polished off the England Lions’ first innings with impressive figures of 8 for 127 off 40.5 overs.
