British school Inter-House Music Competition

12 March, 2017

The Inter-House Music Competition of the British School in Colombo was held recently at the school auditorium. One of the biggest house events of the academic year when Nobel, Newton, Scott and Shakespeare battle it out for Best Choir, Best Junior Soloist, Best Senior Soloist, Best Instrumentalist, Best Band, Best Ensemble and Best Group Dance!

This year’s competition was especially tough – houses were given the task of singing Faith by Stevie Wonder featuring Ariana Grande mashed up with another song of their choice. It was an event to look forward to, particularly after hearing soloists belt their hearts out along the school corridors, or houses jamming out to their own creations on a drum set from sunrise till sunset.

The auditorium was packed, flashes of orange, yellow, red and blue all over. The audience was always in for a surprise, performance after performance, greatness after greatness. Students from all houses came to support their fellow students, and cheered with all the passion in their heart.

From the Spice Girls to Britney Spears, Nobel, Newton, Scott and Shakespeare put up a good fight and Nobel deservingly took home the Championship Shield with Newton and Shakespeare coming up as first runners-up and Scott as second runners-up.
