Rain

19 March, 2017

“Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day.” A nice set of words, but it is not what we will say now in Sri Lanka. Rain is important to all of us. It is because of rain that the water cycle occurs. However, during the period between January to March, rain does not often occur in Sri Lanka. Therefore, droughts prevail and many trees die. Many animals also die. Ponds and wells dry up, and it is a major problem now.

Deforestation is the main problem for this situation. It is because of trees that water is protected. Therefore, it is our duty to plant more trees and protect precious drinking water. Having rains is one great thing to happen in Sri Lanka now. Let’s hope for rain to come, without a drought occurring.
