The Vidyalians were all out for a paltry 121 runs with Anuka Jayasinghe having a superb spell of 7 for 38 while Nipuna Deshan too claimed 3 for 30.
Vidyalian openers Suhada Soysa and Nishan Madushka gave a good start with 68 runs and all other batsmen could not get into double figures. Suhada scored 27 while Nishan was out for 60. At the commencement of the encounter Nishan needed 62 runs to complete the magical 1000 runs and he was out when his total was 998 runs for the season.
At the end of day one Sumangalians too were strugling at 126 for 6 with Pulitha Yasas making the top score of 24 runs and Rashan Kavishka claimed 3 for 15 for Vidyalians.
