Three gang members nabbed

Three members of a group suspected to be involved in a series of robberies in the Panadura and Wadduwa Police divisions have been arrested by the Wadduwa Police on Friday. According to the Police, the first suspect was apprehended in Habaralagahalanda, Wadduwa.

The Police found a revolver, a locally manufactured gun and three T56 bullets following the questioning of the suspect while two other members of the gang were also arrested by the Police. The suspects are said to be aged 18, 23 and 30 and are residents of Mawala, Wadduwa.

Child killed in accident

A 11-year-old was killed when the trishaw he was travelling in collided with a tipper truck in Pujapitiya on Friday afternoon. According to the Police, the trishaw had overturned due to the driver losing control of the vehicle after which it collided with the tipper truck that was travelling from Pujapitiya to Bokkawala.

Four people including the driver of the trishaw were seriously injured while one later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Lakshan Samarakoon, a resident of Udagama, Galhinna.

Robbery suspect apprehended

An person suspected to have committed a robbery in Rajagiriya has been nabbed by the Kohuwala Police concluding an extensive investigation into the incident. He was arrested on Friday night in Delkanda, along with the trishaw used to commit the robbery. The Police also confiscated a laptop, a tablet PC, a dongle and an internet router which was in the possession of the suspec, a resident of First lane, Delkanda, Police said. Kohuwala Police are carrying out further investigations.

Bribe giver arrested

A man who attempted to bribe a Police sergeant attached to the Narammala Police was arrested on Friday. According to the Police, the man had offered the policeman Rs. 500 to get an official service done expeditiously. The suspect is said to be a 48-year-old resident of Thalahena, Negombo.
