Vidanage hoping for another medal

Chinthana Vidanage of Sri Lanka Navy who won a Gold Medal at the 2006th Commonwealth games and a Silver in the 2010 games will be the main attraction at the weight lifting trials for selection in the quest of winning another medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia in September .

The trials will be held at the Sports Ministry Weight lifting centre at Torrington Square,Colombo on the 20th & 21st of May,2017.

S.M.Peters of Sri lanka Air Force, Sudesh Peiris of Torrington Weight lifting centre will be the other two strong contestants for the trials hoping to make their way Down Under in September. Among the women competitors, Dhammika Harischandra of Sri lanka Air force, Nadeeshani Rajapakshe also of Sri Lanka Air force and Chamari Warnakulasuriya of Sri Lanka Navy will be the main women competitors for selection.

Men’s trials will be held under the weight class of 50,56,62,69,77,85,94 kgs and

94+. Women’s trials will be under the weight class of 48,53,58,63,69,75,90

And 90+kgs. Junior boys weight classes will be 56,67,69,77,85,94,105.105+.kgs and

Junior girls weight classes will be 44,48,50,53,63,69,75 and 75+kgs.

Coaches are under a busy schedule preparing their weight lifters at several centres.
