The New Year festival falls on 13th and 14th April every year. It is a religious and cultural festival. It is celebrated by the Sinhalese and Tamils. We get up early in the morning and take a bath and apply holy water from the temple. Then we wear new clothes and go to the temple and worship the Gods. We eat a grand meal for lunch. In the evening we share sweetmeats with relatives and friends. Then we visit our friends and have a good time. It is the most enjoyable day for all of us.
