Paradise in the hills

21 May, 2017

When architect Suchith Mohotti (behind iconic buildings such as Landmark, Kollupitiya, Amaya Hills, Kandy, Kosgoda Hotel, SLIIT, OZO Hotels and a number of other properties scattered around Sri Lanka) wanted to have his own small piece of paradise, he asked his friend and first client, planter Ana Warusavithana for help.

Ana located a 25-acre land on the foothills of the Seven Virgin Mountains and helped Suchith to build a personal retreat. Friends entertained at the estate comment on the early morning swirls of mist, floating down from Adam´s Peak, as “silken ropes binding you to the beauty of the place, not letting you leave.”

A three hour drive from Colombo, fed from the streams coming down from Ginigathhena, with the Kalu Ganga flowing below, a natural forest, allowed to grow wild around part of the house and tea-bushes below, time stops and waits.
