YouTube stardom is becoming an interesting yet a competitive phenomenon in most parts of the world and people are now making a career on this platform.

If you are an active internet user then the name, Nawran should be a very familiar name for you. Nawran Nabawi is a young YouTuber , who showcases some of his realest moments in his videos for which his dedicated fans look forward to routinely.

Content of the videos and connection with the audiences are crucial for any YouTuber. And Nawran too as most of them has grown up with the tools to build and strengthen that connection, used it as the anchor to keep his feet on the ground.

We recently sat down with Nawran to discuss how he became a successful YouTuber with a huge, passionate audience, how he conceptualize his videos, , find out how he creates his signature “NAWRAN” videos and many more!

His YouTube channel ,” NAWRAN” has over 180,000+ followers and over 7.5 million views on YouTube.

“I came across this term, vines which are short videos mostly with some humorous content while I was studying for my degree. There were not much people who did vines in our country back then so I mostly watched the videos made by YouTubers who were international celebrities. I learnt a lot by watching those,” he says.

Nawran reveals that he used the Dubsmash application for video and audio compositions and that is how he made his first video. The “Parippu video , his first video is the most successful video ever up to date. Nawran believes that one of the reasons for it to go viral is because of the idea on which he based his idea to create the video.

“Dhal is a food loved by almost everyone. We are so used to it. My father would not eat if there is no dhal for the meal. So I used that idea and the developed it to show how important dhal is for the Sri Lankans.” Speaking about how he became a YouTuber, Nawran says it was purely a coincidence. He says that he did not plan any of this. However now he wishes to continue doing more and more videos and is more focussed on what he wants to do in the future.

“I figured that people actually did like my videos and what I was doing because they started sharing my videos and commenting on those. There was a lot of positive feedback.

That is one of the main reasons why I did not give up what I was doing and it developed my confidence as well,” expresses the young YouTuber who gained so much popularity in just two years.

When asked about how he gets ideas to create videos, Nawran says , “Most of the thoughts are ones I get while I am travelling back home to Matara. I have ample time to think. Mostly they are the things I see or hear while I am travelling. I make the dialogues the and there.”

His idols are Jehan and Gappiya and also he follows international YouTube celebrities like Logan Paul and Amanda Cerny. Nawran says his mother always wanted him to become an engineer and therefore he sat for his Advanced Level exams in maths stream.

“I wanted to follow the Arts stream and get a degree and finish off my tertiary education. There is this perception in our society that your child should be a doctor or an engineer or follow a profession as the society thinks as perfect and recognizable. Although I enrolled to an engineering degree I realised my heart was not in it.”

However he says that his lucky that his parents understood him and they allowed me to follow what he wanted and supports him unconditionally. Nawran also mentions that future generation who wishes to become a YouTuber should first try to create videos with good content without focussing on how much they can earn if they make a video.

“People think it is easy and it is all about money. I did not focus on the money factor. I am glad I did not do so because if I did then I would not keep doing videos and be where I am today. My advice would be, do whatever you like if you have a passion for it. Do not make money your “”motivation” to do videos,” he says.Further adding he also says that it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of time and a lot of patience to build a good YouTube channel. And that building your own fan base is a very tuff job. Therefore one’s focus should be to capitalise on that more and give your best.

Talking about future plans Nawran says that he did not have big plan and he never in his dreams thought that he would be able to win so many peoples’ love and attention.

“I take one day at a time. However I am now more focused than when I first started doing videos so I hope I will be better in future. Will see how it goes.”He did not forget to thank his family especially his two brothers, who are giving him a huge support to make the videos.

“Also my fans and people who have always supported and backed me. I am forever grateful for them. If not for them this would never be possible. So thank you all for the support and love.”
