The under 14 athletes of Girls High School, Kandy did creditably well to win the Team Championship in their particular age group collecting 42 points. Hillwood College,Kandy became Runners-up collecting 32 points while Pujapitiya National School were placed 3rd with 22 points at the Provincial Athletic Meet held at the Bogambara Grounds,Kandy.
About 4500 athletes Girls & boys from 700 schools in the province participated. Aloka Wijeyathilake of Girls high School,Kandy(Champion athlete for track events in the under 14 age category) won the 1st place in the 80 metres & 100 metres in the particular age group.
Umasha Wijenayake of the same school secured 3rd place in the High Jump event and 80 metres hurdles. The under 14 4 x 100 Relay team of Girls High School, won the 1st place and the team consisted of Aloka Wijeyathilake,Umasha Wijenayake,Isuri Attanayake and Esandi Jayasinghe.
