With the hope of strengthening parliament to parliament ties between China and Sri Lanka China gifted equipment worth USD 293,000 to the Sri Lankan parliament .
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya accepted the donation from China’s ambassador Yi Xianliang.
The Speaker said that 15 parliamentarians will visit China in the coming weeks to undergo a program on disaster management.
Yi said China welcomed more local parliamentarians to visit China and would look forward to further boosting ties with Sri Lanka.
Yi said he would also encourage more Chinese companies and investors to invest in Sri Lanka.
The equipment which included office materials and laptops was donated by the state-owned China National Corporation for Overseas Economic Cooperation.
