Three Trinity sportsmen conferred with ‘Lion’ Award

Two cricketers, a weightlifter and a cadet of Trinity College were awarded the coveted ‘Lion’ title for their contributions made towards the schools achievements during last year. This is the highest award presented to a school boy and the presentation took place on Wednesday at the last

assembly of the term. The Awards were presented by the Principal Andrew Fowler-Watt.

It is the highest possible merit Award a Trinitian can receive for his greatest achievements during his school career at Trinity which is attainable by a student engaged in sports and performing at its highest level to bring honor to the school.

The recipients of the prestigious ‘Cricket Lion’ Award was presented to Hasitha Boyagoda who perfomed well with the bat, the other Award to Thisaru Rashmika a right hand bat and a classy pace bowler. The other two Lion awards were presented to a fine cadet Praveen Rajapakse and weightlifter Bevishan Wijewickrema.

Colours were awarded for cricketers Vimukthi Nethumal, Thiagaraja Bhanu, Trevon Weerasuriya, Hasintha Jayasuriya. For Cadetting Shaakya Ariyaratne, Tharindu Ratnayake.

Ruggerites Keshawa Pelangoda, Rashen Bandaranayake, Pasan Samarawickrema,Rishane Madena, Hasinu Weliwatte, Shevan Ekanayake, Kanesha Alwis, and Waren Weerakoon received colours for performances. Diluksha Dange, Anuk Boyagode, Aveesha Priyankara, Nathan Yee Chang too were rewarded. Shenal Premarthne Weightlifting and Karateka, Nadesh Illukkymbura received colours for their achievements.
