Minister of Development Assignments, Tilak Marapana is tipped to be appointed Foreign Minister. He is also likely to execute his duties of the Foreign Ministry from his present office at Temple Trees, adjacent to the Prime Minister’s office, according to government sources.Former Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake tendered his resignation under pressure following his alleged involvement in the ongoing bond investigations.
Meanwhile the National Lotteries Board (NLB) and the Development Lotteries Board (DLB) that were vested with the Foreign Ministry through a special Gazette issued on Friday June 9, will go back to the Finance Ministry. Accordingly, Media and Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera will be in charge of the two institutions, the sources said.
