Two persons who had mosquitoes in plastic cans and old tyres in their compounds and business premises were fined Rs.4,000 each by Kurunegala Additional Magistrate, Chamara Wickramanayake.
The suspects were residents of Wellawa, Kurunegala. W.R.Dharmakeerthi, PHI, Kurunegala prosecuted.
According to Dr. Chandana Gallage, MOH, Kurunegala, about 564 persons have been fined in courts in the Kurunegla district for having mosquito breeding grounds within their home gardens and business premises during past seven months.
