The Sri Lanka College of Journalism (SLCJ) is pleased to announce the award of the Rex de Silva Memorial Fellowship to W.G.A. Inushi Lanka to follow the Diploma in Journalism course for the Year 2017-2018.

The Rex de Silva Memorial Fellowship is presented by the family of the late Mr. Rex de Silva who was a senior journalist in Sri Lanka.

He was the Editor in Chief of the Sun and WEEKEND newspaper, then published by the Independent Newspapers Ltd., and also a foreign correspondent for DPA, (Deutsche Press Agency) and later Editor in chief of the Brunei Bulletin.

Inushi Lanka from Modarawila, Panadura who obtained two As and a C at the G.C.E. A/L in 2015, says, her objective is to “learn to impart the knowledge she gains to others in society”.

She expects to pursue a career as an academic in media studies, and has enrolled at the Sri Lanka College of Journalism for its one-year Diploma course in Journalism.

The Diploma program at the Sri Lanka College of Journalism has an intake of 33 students and provides for development of skills and knowledge in two or more related fields of study, i.e. media, business, design and new communications technologies.

The program is delivered by experienced and professional academics and senior journalists from the media industry.

The SLCJ is managed by the Newspaper Society of Sri Lanka, The Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka, Free Media Movement and the Sri Lanka Working Journalists’ Association.
