Two more bus lanes in Colombo and suburbs

The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development will introduce two new bus priority lanes in Colombo this week.

The new lanes will come into operation on Tuesday, August 22 from the Katubedda Junction in Moratuwa up to the Maliban Junction in Ratmalana on the Galle Road, while on the same day, a lane dedicated for buses will be enforced between the Bambalapitiya junction and the Pittala Junction, in Colombo, Ministry sources said.

The move comes after two priority bus lanes were implemented last week from Kurusa Junction in Moratuwa to Katubedda junction and from the Savoy Cinema, Wellawatte on the Galle Road up to Bambalapitiya Junction. The lanes commencing on Tuesday will be phase two of the project. The new lanes are an attempt by the Ministry to introduce nine bus priority lanes in Colombo under its transport development project and have been lauded by the public.
