Bodi makes his last journey today

20 August, 2017

The Kandy sports lovers pay tribute to the one time President of the Kandy Association Football League and Sri Lanka Football Federation B.M.N. Bodi Liyanage, who passed away on Friday in Kandy. He was 69 years at the time of his death. It is a great loss to all communities throughout the country as Bodhi as he was affectionately known dedicated a good part of his life to serve the country and sports. He had a dream to see Sri Lanka compete with the best on the sports field and in public life. He was dedicated towards his Official duties too. At the time of his demise , he was a retired senior DIG.

The society has lost not only a gentleman but also a man who did yeoman service to sports. He was a man who was in the Sports and Public field. His name will be carved in Kandy’s sporting history, as a driving force in taking the game of football to competitive level. . The late law enforcement officer believed in himself and in the power and skill of the people. He was never hesitant to knock on doors to harness talent and think outside the box .

. Bodi was a man who used his position to treat people in a fair manner. He exhibited an admirable social responsibility and always gave a helping hand to young sportsmen to make use of their talents. Sri Lanka’s sporting fraternity has lost a giant while I lost a great friend. My dear Bodi! May you rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon you.
