My motherland

17 September, 2017

Dubbed as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”, Sri Lanka is a country with a striking environment. Being a tourist destination, it has amazed its visitors by welcoming them with its wonderful natural beauty.

Sri Lanka has a vast biological diversity which consists of animals such as deer, elephants, leopards and plants such as orchids, bougainvillea and roses, as well as exceptional geographical features like magnificent rivers, blue mountains, spectacular waterfalls and beautiful botanical gardens. Creative drawings as well as monumental sculptures in cities like Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa show the abilities of ancient artistes to sightseers.

Sri Lanka also possesses a proud history filled with victories. Heroes like Kappetipola Nilame, Madduma Bandara and Wariyapola Sri Sumangala Thero as well as Kings like Dutugemunu and Parakramabahu, who had strived to bring peace and success to this country, still respected by society.

I hope that a future full of happiness, peace and prosperity will prevail in my beloved motherland.
