Government calls for proposals for Budget 2018

Preparations are underway to present the fourth budget of the Yahapalana Government on November 9 by the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, Mangala Samaraweera.

Budget 2018, the first to be presented by Minister Samaraweera, is aimed at building an enriched country with a strong economy for creation of one million employment opportunities.

It will pave the way for introducing reforms in the financial and administrative sectors and to broad base opportunities for public and private sector involvement in the economic activities of the country.

The Finance Ministry has called for proposals from all stakeholders including the general masses to be included in Budget 2018, to be presented in Parliament on November 9. Proposals for enhancing opportunities in the areas of activities proposed by the government should be submitted to the Ministry of Finance, The Secretariat, Colombo 01, or emailed to: [email protected] before October 15.

Democracy, Reconciliation and Development are the three main pillars on which the Unity Government has been formed in order to fulfill the economic needs as well as the aspirations of the masses of the country. Professionals, scholars and those engaged in Manufacture, Services and Agriculture - the three main sectors of the economy, are requested to contribute their proposals for Budget 2018. The government since it came in to office has achieved tremendous success in the fields of Free Education and Health, making theses accessible to all while completing construction of 200,000 houses for homeless people.
