Musaeus College has performed creditably well at the regional qualifying round tournament of the Tennis 10S, conducted by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association at the NTC courts in Greenpath recently.
Its teams emerged champions in the Orange Ball and Green Ball categories while they became the runners up in the Red Ball section. Coached by former Sri Lanka junior Wimbledon Davis cup player, ex-national doubles champion and former Royal tennis star Ganendran Subramaniam, tennis at Musaeus has shown vast improvement.
Head coach Subramaniam, along three assistant coaches Prageeth Polgampola, M.D. Monir and Nedun have put the players on the right track to create history in girls tennis. This is the first time that Musaeus have won the orange and green ball.
Six teams competed in the Orange Ball category – Holy Family, Musaeus, Visakha, Methodist, St. Bridget’s and Bishops College under two stages. Musaeus emerged Orange Ball champions while Bishops became runners up. A total of ten teams competed in the Green Ball category in which Musaeus emerged champions with Visakha ‘A’ as runners up.
