The World Diabetes Day will be commemorated at the Galle Face Green in Colombo today under the theme ‘Healthy Women - Healthy Nation’, in the presence of President Maithripala Sirisena, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Acting Director General of Health Services Dr. J.M.W.Jayasundara Bandara and Endocrinologist and Diabetologist Dr. Uditha Bulugahapitiya.
The celebration commences with the Diabetic Walk from the Galle Face Green at 6.30 am. Free medical camp will be conducted at the same venue where people could obtain various medical facilities.
The event has been organized by the Sri Lanka Diabetes Federation and the Sri Lanka Collage of Endocrinologists in collaboration with the NCD Unit of the Health Ministry. Singer Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Lions’ Club sponsor the event while Lake House is the media sponsor.
