The National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (NCCSL) supported the ‘China Products Show 2017’ held last week in Colombo. This was the 3rd edition of the China Products exhibition to be held in the country.

“The exhibition was an ideal platform to promote trade and businesses between the two countries. Since China and Sri Lanka established a trade relationship the two countries have benefited immensely and the growth in trade has contributed in economic growth as well,” Chengdu Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export Secretary General, Xiang Luming said. Sri Lanka is an important source country for China. The trade between Sri Lanka and Chengdu city has recorded a 7 percent increase over the years, he said.

“Sri Lanka and China have five decades of diplomatic relations. However, trade and commerce have existed for over 1,000 years. The most important factor is the friendship between the two countries. China is a giant in the commerce and trade sectors,” Sri Lanka China Business Council President, Tilak Godamanne said.

“China is the biggest market in the Asian region and this was a good opportunity to develop more and more ties between the two countries. We do extend our fullest cooperation to develop trade and business,” he said. The exhibition attracted around 100 quality Chinese companies to Colombo, providing an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan businesses to explore long-term business associations with Chinese companies for joint ventures, collaborations, partnerships and import-export trading. The exhibition showcased an extensive range of products from leading manufacturers from the provinces of China, displaying consumer electronics, home appliances, LED and lighting, building materials, tools and hardware, machinery, furniture and home ware and hospitality products. Parallel to the three day exhibition, several seminars for the public were also conducted. The industry partner for the event was NCCSL, for the 3rd consecutive year. The exhibition was jointly organized by The China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Guangdong Committee), China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMEC), Worldex-Sing Ex Exhibitions (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd. and Guangzhou Haisi Exhibition Company.

The exhibition also enabled the SMEs as well as large entrepreneurs’ and group companies to source quality and innovative Chinese products in Sri Lanka. The 3rd edition China Products (Colombo, Sri Lanka) Exhibition was one of the most successful multi-sector B2B international trade shows in Sri Lanka.

The exhibition assisted Sri Lankan companies to directly connect with leading Chinese suppliers from various industries and products. The event attracted 5,000 – 7,000 trade buyers from across Sri Lanka who viewed a wide range of products from various sectors in one central location.

The China Products (Colombo Sri Lanka) Exhibition 2017 ensured that the exhibitor is matched with the right buyer, to create a win-win situation for all concerned. The customized networking and business matching services at the show provided the perfect opportunity to optimize interaction between buyers and exhibitors.
