The FMSC of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) will hold its 14th International Conference on Business Management (ICBM) on Friday, December 8.
The ICBM, a much sought after event by local and international academics and practitioners will be followed by a business forum slated for the same day at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, organizers said.
“This year’s conference held under the theme ‘Managing Interface: Corporate Resilience and Growth Potential’, provides an interdisciplinary platform with endless opportunities for academia and business management professionals to share their knowledge and build up networks,” FMSC Dean, Dr. Kumara told the Sunday Observer. Initiated in 1999, this research conference aims at providing an interface for academics and industry for a productive collaboration and dialogue.
“Over the years it has evolved in to a fully-fledged academic conference including an industry forum other than the usual high quality technical sessions.
The conference has built up networks of international delegates and eminent scholars who contributed to the event by transferring global knowledge,” the dean said.
The Chief Guest at the ICBM will be Prof. Patrick Mendis, a Harvard Kennedy School’s former Rajawali Senior Fellow and a current Associate-in-Research of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University. The keynote speaker at ICBM 2017 will be the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Research University of Malaysia, Associate Prof. Evan Lau.
Pointing out the significance of the theme, Dr. Kumara explained that interface refers to an interconnection or a common boundary in which facts, problems, considerations, theories, and practices are shared by two or more parties, disciplines or fields of study.
“Management of these interfaces often requires resilience in securing growth expectations.
Thus, the role of manager, consultant, adviser and scholar in managing these complex interfaces is positioned for ICBM 2017.
We open an interface at ICBM 2017, a platform for national and international scholars, and practitioners to discuss and debate the challenges of managing these interfaces, exploring the growth potential of the next era of business,” he said.
Dr. Kumara highlighted that selected papers presented by authors at ICBM 2017 will have the opportunity of being published in a special issue of The Journal of Contemporary Issues in Business and Government (JCIBG) a reputed publication of Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
“ ICBM publishes post-conference proceedings that will be made available at Social Science Research Network. Selected papers will also be published in a special issue of Vidyodaya Journal of Management, a biannual scholarly journal published by FMSC, USJ,” the dean said.
